POS connection
The maximum distance between the IC and the POS depends on the protocol and communication method used (RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, Current Loop, Ethernet, LON).
To ensure trouble-free operation, it is recommended that this distance be kept as short as possible.
Connect the cable between the IC-Smart Touch and the POS as described in the IC Smart - POS connections
Data cable connection with price pole
If the IC-Smart Touch uses a wired connection to the price display, please ensure that the cable is connected as described in chapter 5 of the IC Smart - POS connections
If you want to be safe the cable must have these specifications. (Especially for long distance > 200m)
- Characteristic impedance 120 ohms
- Mutual capacitance max 50nF/km
For outdoor use I would recommend a cable type with outdoor resistant sheathing, even if it is placed in a pipe, as most of those pipes aren't watertight.
RF connection with price pole
The IC-Smart Touch must always be within range of the price please when an RF link with the Sign Controller is used, ensuring a strong RF (radio frequency). The quality of this RF connection depends on three primary factors:
- Distance
The distance between the IC-Smart Touch and the Sign Controller should be minimised. Ideally, this distance should be less than 30 meters when there is a direct line-of-sight between them. - Obstacles
Ensure that there are no obstacles obstructing the direct line-of-sight between the IC-Smart Touch and Smart devices. Obstacles such as metal enclosures can negatively impact RF performance compared to locations with plastic housing.
Consider installing the antenna outdoors. The antenna cable can be extended by up to 10 metres. - Interference
The quality of wireless transmission is also depending on the local available wireless spectrum. Other appliances can (temporarily) block the wireless spectrum, therefore do not place the bridge next to (4G/5G)cellular modems, or machinery that can create electrical noise such as electrical motors and pumps etc.
After placing the IC-Smart, use the user interface to verify the link quality with the sign controller(s).
Cellular reception
Cellular reception may require additional hardware. If your IC-Smart requires a cellular connection, ensure that it is placed in a location with sufficient cellular reception. Be aware that metal enclosures or structures can significantly reduce or even completely block cellular signals. You can use a mobile phone to check the reception quality at a specific location before installing the IC-Smart Touch.
Connected services
If you plan to utilise wired Ethernet port for connecting to the internet, please take the following into consideration. To ensure correct functionality, your device should at least have the capability to connect to the following domains:

Please ensure that these addresses are accessible from your network and are not blocked by any firewall settings.
Network configuration can be configured manually using IC-Smart Touch's interface, or you can opt for automatic configuration through DHCP (default setting).
Note:
If necessary, you can modify the DNS server settings using the touch screen under Network settings.
Devices that will use Bever Innovations' connected services need a Device licence to access the Bever Dashboard.
